Who Doesn’t want to Blog ?
I think it has comes to a time, where people realise how much time they spend on the internet and on social media, news sites, Google, all looking for one thing. Information.
I know that I do. I am forever telling my clients with DESC Computers that “Google Is Your Friend”, and it really is.
My two latest websites that I have “semi” created have been blog sites. People wanting to put their thoughts and name out there. They want to share their knowledge and their life experiences with other people.
We registered their domain names, arranged hosting and setup a WordPress self hosted site, installed all the important plugins necessary for security and to use the site to its full ability.
I think I am lucky that I don’t have a blog site as such – I think I would bore people to tears, either that or annoy the hell out of them 🙂
PLANNING A WEBSITE REDESIGN? PROS AND CONS TO BE AWARE OF
Like any good investment, your website needs to be proactively managed. Not just built and then forgotten about. It’s not just about keeping the content up to date, but it is also about bringing the technology and design up to date to meet the needs of your business and your customers.
When is a website redesign needed?
In general most companies redesign their website every 2 years, and rebuild their website every 4 years.
KEY DRIVERS FOR A WEBSITE REDESIGN:
- The website looks old and dated
- Is NOT mobile friendly (see image below)
- It doesn’t reflect the business direction
- It looks terrible on mobile devices
- It doesn’t convert any sales or leads
- It is hard to navigate and find information quickly
- It takes too long to load
- It is not easy to update the content
- It is not user friendly
These sites are not mobile responsive. They either don’t fit the screen or are too small to read without zooming in on parts. Google do NOT track these sites due to their non-responsive mode
Check your Google Analytics data(most older websites don’t even have this implemented) for signs that your website needs help. If you have low repeat visits, high bounce rates and low average time of site – then something isn’t working. Check the technology data to see how your website is performing on different browsers and mobile types. It is also advisable to ask a professional to perform a website analysis and propose recommendations on how to make your website work better for you.
PROS OF WEBSITE REDESIGNS
- A fresh design gives the impression that your business is dynamic and growing
- You move with the times, and your website is attractive and easy to use on mobile devices
- Your website works harder for you with new functionality such as social media integration, a blog, forums, e-commerce, contact forms and more
- Your users are happier when they can find what they want quickly and easily
- You save money, because you can easily maintain and update the website content yourself
- Your website will be more search engine friendly
- You can gain a competitive advantage over your competitors by captivating the online market
NEGATIVES OF WEBSITE REDESIGNS & HOW TO OVERCOME THEM
Regular users of your website will be see a different looking site, and may take a while to get used to it. (see images below) To overcome this, it is important to consider the user experience in the design – what information do they need? What action do they need to take? Make it easy for people to find what they want in 3 clicks or less. You can also work with us to find a new design that is implemented over time so as not to confuse your users so much. It is also a great opportunity to release the new site creating another wave of new clients.
Website rebuilds will require resources such as time and money. It is important to factor in website maintenance and redesigns every 2 – 4 years and treat your website as a growing part of your business. Many design companies put up a “website upgrading / under maintenance” when redesigning. Not us – your old website stays right where it is until we are ready to launch your brand new site.
Overall, keeping on top of how your website design is performing is an important part of making sure it meets your business goals online. There are powerful advantages to be gained in terms happier customers, better functionality, and a competitive advantage over your competitors. There are some major areas to look out for, but with proper planning and the right web design team in place, these negatives can be turned into positives.
8 reasons why your business NEEDS a professional website!
I could go on and on about how and why you need a website, but the truth of the matter is your here looking so you must be asking yourself the same thing. The answers below are the “correct” answers as to why you need a website – but here in short is our answer.
THE SHORT ANSWER
Credibility, Information for your customers (24/7 – yes most people do their research on things late at night), saves you time being able to refer clients to the site and you can target more people – Facebook pages and twitter feeds are great – but are you a REAL business – believe me – this is what people think, hells bells – this is what I think. Yes, I’m computer savvy – but guess what, so are most of today’s generation – they look for your name, see it on Facebook, then look for your website. Oh – you don’t have one – NEXT !
Like many small business owners, you may believe your business cannot benefit from having a website or that a website is not within your budget. Or maybe you think because you don’t use a computer, neither do your potential customers. These are misconceptions. These 8 reasons show why your company NEEDS a professional website, no matter what size your business.
1. YOUR SMALL BUSINESS WILL GAIN CREDIBILITY
Today, more and more consumers use the internet to search for the products or services they need. Your small business will gain credibility by having a website. Without one, potential customers will go to your competitors that do. If you already have a website but it is “home-made”, having it professionally redesigned will provide your business with a professional image which will inspire even greater confidence. For home-based businesses, this is particularly beneficial since you do not have a store front to promote your products or services.
2. A WEBSITE SAVES YOU MONEY
As a small business owner you probably think you can’t afford a professional website, but you can’t afford NOT to. Although the cost of designing a website varies, our packages start at $150 for a one page website (excluding domain registration & hosting – $195) Sure you can advertise on Facebook and Twitter but each of the people that look at your page or feed, will also be looking for a business website. This we can help you with.
3. IT WILL ENABLE YOU TO KEEP YOUR CUSTOMERS INFORMED
Think of your website as being your online brochure or catalogue. It is much easier and quicker to update information about your products and services on your website than in print material, making it an effective way of letting your customers know about the arrival of new products, upcoming events, special promotions, or any new services you now offer. Unlike print ads which quickly become outdated, your website can provide current information and news.
4. IT IS ALWAYS ACCESSIBLE
A website is available to both your regular and potential customers 24/7/365 providing them with the convenience of reviewing your products and services when your store or office is closed. With today’s busy lifestyles, this is a great selling point when making a purchase decision.
5. A WEBSITE MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO TARGET A WIDER MARKET
Whether you provide products or services, your website will provide an alternative location to sell them. As a retailer, a website (eCommerce) is a great place to sell your products to a wider market; even services can be made available globally. Don’t think you’ll be able to sell your products or services online? Don’t forget, even cars and houses sell online!
6. IT PROVIDES A MEDIUM ON WHICH TO SHOWCASE YOUR WORK
No matter what type of business you’re in, a website is a great place to showcase your work. By including a portfolio or image gallery, as well as testimonials about your work, you can demonstrate what makes your business unique.
7. A WEBSITE SAVES YOU TIME
Providing information to your customers takes time, whether it’s on the phone, face-to-face, in a brochure, or in emails. With an online catalogue you can provide lots of information about your products and services. Once your website is up and running, it is available to your customers indefinitely, saving you time. And what is time? Time is money!
8. IT IMPROVES CUSTOMER SERVICE
Maybe you sell environmentally friendly products and would like to share tips on how to recycle, or perhaps you’re an accountant and want to give your clients advice on how to simplify their bookkeeping practices. By including a FAQ page, adding articles or uploading newsletters to answer all your customers’ questions you can keep them up-to-date. What better way to provide them with value added service than by sharing information on your website.

Well 2017 has started with a big kick!
Heaps of work in the horizon and we are just loving every minute of it. New projects – current projects – all so exciting.
2016 for many people (us included) was really not a great year. We lost too many people, some famous, some not so famous – but very dear to our hearts.
2017 is going to be a GREAT YEAR – I can feel it.
