THE PROJECT

Dimples Essendon is a vibrant entertainment venue with a distinctive personality — and its website needed to deliver the same impact as the venue itself.

The brief called for a digital presence that combined bold visual design with practical functionality, giving guests an easy way to discover what's happening, explore functions and make bookings.

THE BRIEF

The website needed to capture the sophisticated and energetic character of Dimples Essendon while making important information quick and easy to access.

Key requirements included:

• A bold and sophisticated visual design
• An online bookings area
• A dedicated functions section
• A gallery to showcase private events and the venue
• A dynamic area for upcoming events and what's happening
• A responsive experience across mobile and desktop
• A website that the venue team could confidently manage themselves

The goal was to create something that looked impressive without sacrificing usability.

THE APPROACH

The visual direction was built around a black and gold aesthetic, creating a strong connection between the website and the venue's sophisticated atmosphere.

The website structure was designed around the way customers interact with an entertainment venue — discovering what's on, exploring the space, considering a function or event, and ultimately making contact or a booking.

DESIGNED FOR THE EXPERIENCE

A dedicated “What's Happening” section provides a flexible space for upcoming events and venue news, while the functions gallery gives potential private-event customers a visual introduction to what Dimples can offer.

A dedicated bookings area provides a clear pathway for reservations, keeping the most important customer actions easy to find.

The website was also developed responsively, recognising that many venue visitors will be browsing from their phones while planning a night out.

BUILD IT — THEN HAND IT OVER

An important part of the project was ensuring the owner could confidently manage the website after launch.

Rather than creating a system the client would always need a developer to update, DESC Designs provided one-on-one training and practical tutorials, giving the owner the knowledge to manage ongoing content independently.

The website was subsequently taken over and maintained in-house.

THE RESULT

Dimples Essendon now has a website that matches the energy, sophistication and personality of the venue, while providing practical tools for bookings, functions and event promotion.

Just as importantly, the owner was equipped to take control of the website themselves — a great outcome for a business wanting independence over its day-to-day digital presence.

A great website doesn't always need to stay in the hands of the designer. Sometimes the best result is handing the keys over with confidence.
