THE PROJECT

Northside Locksmiths approached DESC Designs following ongoing issues with their existing WordPress website.

The business wanted to retain the familiar structure and content of their existing site, but the underlying website technology needed a complete overhaul to improve reliability, security and future maintainability.

With 64 pages to recreate, this was a substantial redevelopment rather than a simple website refresh.

THE BRIEF

The key requirements were to:

• Retain the existing website structure and important content
• Rebuild the site using a modern, fully licensed WordPress framework
• Resolve functionality and security concerns
• Ensure the website followed Australian spelling and terminology
• Improve the overall reliability and maintainability of the site
• Preserve the existing online presence during redevelopment

THE APPROACH

The website was first recreated on a staging environment, allowing the entire redevelopment to take place safely without disrupting the live website.

The 64-page website was then manually rebuilt using WordPress and Divi 5. Rather than simply transferring the existing pages, each page was carefully reviewed and refined during the rebuild.

An important part of the process was converting the existing US spelling and terminology to Australian English, ensuring the content was appropriate for the Australian market.

The redevelopment also included:

• Rebuilding all 64 pages within the new framework
• Refining layouts and page presentation
• Reviewing and updating website content
• Sourcing suitable temporary imagery where required
• Implementing Google integrations
• Strengthening WordPress dashboard and administrator security
• Testing the website before launch

The existing website structure was deliberately retained, providing continuity for the business while significantly improving the technology behind it.

The complete website redevelopment was delivered and launched in less than one month, with no disruption to the live website.
