OVERVIEW

Sunbury District Obedience Dog Club (SDODC) has been a client since 2014, making them one of our very first website projects. The club needed a platform where the local community could easily learn about dog training opportunities and connect with the club. Over the years, the site has evolved alongside changes in technology and club management, ensuring it continues to serve members effectively.

THE BRIEF

2014: Create a user-friendly website that enabled the Sunbury community to discover the club, learn about its dog training programs, and easily access membership and contact information.
Ongoing: Provide ongoing website maintenance, updates, and technical support as the club's needs evolved over time.
2023: Modernise the website by migrating it from an HTML build to WordPress, creating a more flexible, secure, and easy-to-manage platform for future growth.
2025: Adapt the website for management by the new committee by simplifying the WordPress backend, ensuring anyone with basic Microsoft Word skills could confidently update and maintain the site.
2026: Deliver a complete website refresh using Divi 5, focusing on improved speed, enhanced performance, modern design, mobile responsiveness, updated imagery, SEO and LLMO optimisation, and an intuitive user experience to support the club well into the future.

THE APPROACH

Initial Website Build (2014): Designed a clean, functional website focused on showcasing the club's training programs, membership information, and contact details. The emphasis was on accessibility, ease of navigation, and providing clear information for the local community.
Ongoing Maintenance & Support: Since 2014, DESC Designs has continued to maintain and support the website, implementing updates and enhancements as required to ensure it remains reliable, secure, and relevant for members and visitors.
WordPress Migration (2023): Successfully migrated the website from HTML to WordPress, providing the club with a more flexible, modern content management system that improved functionality, design flexibility, and long-term usability.
Committee-Friendly Redesign (2025): Simplified the WordPress administration area to create an intuitive, user-friendly experience for non-technical committee members. The content editing experience was designed to feel familiar—similar to working in Microsoft Word—making it easy for volunteers to update the website with confidence.
Complete Website Transformation (2026): With a new committee bringing fresh ideas and a renewed vision for the club, it was the perfect opportunity to completely refresh the website. Built using the power and performance of Divi 5, the redesigned website features a modern new look, improved navigation, updated imagery, enhanced mobile responsiveness, and a more engaging user experience. The refresh also included updated content, improved SEO and LLMO (Large Language Model Optimisation), and a streamlined website structure that makes ongoing management simple while helping visitors quickly find the information they need.

THE OUTCOME

For more than a decade, DESC Designs has provided the Sunbury & District Obedience Dog Club with a consistent, reliable, and professional online presence that has evolved alongside the club and its members.

The 2023 migration to WordPress modernised the website, creating a more flexible platform that was easier to maintain and adapt as the club's needs changed. By 2025, the redesigned, committee-friendly backend empowered volunteers to confidently manage website updates themselves, thanks to an intuitive editing experience tailored to non-technical users.

With a complete website transformation in 2026, the club now benefits from a modern, future-ready website that reflects its renewed vision while remaining easy to manage for successive committees. This long-term partnership has ensured the website continues to support members, attract new participants, showcase the club professionally, and provide a valuable online resource for the Sunbury community and dog owners for many years to come.
